Shakti Empowerment and Counselling is a virtual therapy practice rooted in the experiences of women. We use a feminist framework and specialize in trauma, racial wounds, relational healing, intimacy, body image, work place stress, self-worth, cultural barriers and the financial stress that intersects with all of it.
This isn't one-size-fits-all therapy. It's culturally grounded, anti-oppressive care — delivered by a Registered Social Worker (member of OCSWSSW), EMDR-certified therapist who understands the layers you carry.
You deserve a space that sees all of you. This is it.

We would like to acknowledge that we currently live and work on stolen land, and we are grateful to the First Nations, Inuit, and Métis peoples communities that have taken care of this land and its creatures. As part of our ongoing commitment to addressing colonial violence and promoting mental health support, we will continue to fight for Indigenous sovereignty. Our solidarity will remain with the Indigenous people of Turtle Island, and we are dedicated to providing inclusive therapy services for those seeking support in Ontario.

Women's experiences have too often been minimized, misdiagnosed, and misunderstood in traditional mental health spaces. At Shakti, we centre you — your history, your body, your culture, and your inner world. From racial trauma and relational wounds to body image and self-worth, we treat the full complexity of what it means to be a woman navigating this world.
We believe healing is both ancient and personal. Alongside evidence-based therapy, we honour the power of ancestral and spiritual practices — Yoga, Reiki, Tai Chi, faith based, and arts-based modalities — and incorporate somatic experiences that reconnect you to your body as a site of wisdom, not just pain. The mind and body heal together here, and a bottom-up approach is given equal weight every step of the way.
You won't have to shrink here!

You're not too much. You're not overreacting. You're a woman navigating a world that was not built to support you — and the weight of that is real. From healthcare dismissal and workplace discrimination to divorce, family stress, heartbreaks, motherhood, cultural barriers, systemic injustice, and the burnout that comes from years of invisible labour — this space was built for exactly what you're carrying.
You won't have to translate, minimize, or justify your experience here.
Shakti Empowerment and Counselling services provide valuable mental health support but are not intended to replace medical intervention, diagnoses, or clinical advice. The outcomes of our therapy services depend on the individual, the number of sessions, objectives, and various other factors. This website does not establish a client/therapist relationship, which will be formalized after an initial consultation and signed consent with Sumu Sathi, our Registered Social Worker and Ontario therapist.
Currently, Shakti Counselling is not accepting clients who are seeking or receiving addiction treatment or psychiatric treatment in a hospital setting. However, we welcome individuals looking for support from a trauma informed and culturally grounded therapist to explore their mental health needs.
